SBB Cargo and DB Cargo continue their cooperation
Ahead of time, SBB Cargo and DB Cargo have jointly extended their alpine transit contract for a further three years. The contract will come into effect at the change of timetable at the end of the year and will govern cross-border traffic from Mannheim, Singen or Basel to Chiasso until the end of 2022.
As from February, SBB Cargo will run 130 freight trains per week for DB Cargo from Mannheim or Basel to Chiasso. The rail freight companies will also cooperate in the deployment of engine drivers and rolling stock.
Since last December, engine drivers from the Basel depot have been operating trains for SBB Cargo International to Mannheim. As from February 2019, 30 engine drivers from the Goldau depot will be working for ten journeys a week from Mannheim to Chiasso. (ben)
