Saving more than 1 million t of CO2
In 2020, Kombiverkehr, Germany, managed to shift a total of 858,079 truck consignments or 1.72 million teu from road and sea to the eco-friendly railways, saving 1,005,000 t of CO2. Due to the pandemic, transport volumes of containers, swap bodies and semi trailers dropped by 3.0%.
The company made a successful start into the new year by introducing a variety of innovations in its portfolio. On 1 February 2021, the first direct train set off on its journey from Lübeck to Verona v.v.
In January, Kombiverkehr also added a new connection between Verona and Bari Giovinazzo in Italy. This service is run in cooperation with Mercitalia and Lugo Terminal.
Finally, the operator recently rerouted its Spanish Atlantic service to the DUSS terminal in the Duisburg-Ruhrort port. (ben)
