Saving almost 1 t of CO2 per trip
LkW Walter and Imtron, a Media Markt Saturn Group company, are partnering to offer transport services between Germany and Italy. To date, Imtron has organised deliveries of its private label items from Germany to northern and southern Italy by road.
The partners have now opted for combined transport, because it helps avoid disruptions in the supply chains over the Brenner Pass and reduces CO₂ emissions.
The craneable trailers are lifted onto the train at the terminal in Germany and transported to Italy without any further transhipment. In Italy, the trailers return to the road for the last mile. The intermodal solution saves almost 1 t of CO₂ emissions (exactly 919 kg) per transport and trailer. (ben)
