Savannah increases national market share
With over 2 million teu for FY/2022 ending 31 December 2022, the Port of Savannah handled one out of every 8.8 loaded teus in USA. This was the highest market share Georgia’s deepwater port has ever achieved. GPA’s share of the US container trade posted an increase of 0.7%.
GPA reports that nearly 395,000 teu passed through the Port of Savannah in February 2023, making last month the port’s second busiest February ever, after 2022 when GPA moved 460,400 teu.
Compared to pre-pandemic numbers in February 2020, last month’s performance was an increase of 30,400 teu. GPA handled 3.8 million teu in the first two months of FY/2023.
