São Paulo Guarulhos airport augments market share


The approximately 100,000 sqm (37,000 sqm refrigerated), São Paulo Guarulhos airport (GRU) Cargo Terminal (Teca) has strengthened its position as Brazil's main airport logistics park, and collared 42% of the market share in 2018.

 

Since the concession began in 2012, there have been nine percentage points of continuous growth. The 305,904 t transported in 2018 equate to an 8% increase vis-a-vis 2017, with imported (161,366 t) (+9%) and exported goods (144,538 t) growing by 9 and 7% respectively.

 

Another important milestone in 2018 was the 35% growth in the share of cargo flights in the total volume of imported cargo. New regular cargo flights, operated by Qatar Airways, Latam, Avianca, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airways, stemmed from Europe, the USA and Asia. (ah)
