Samskip's Baltic Sea upgrade
Samskip has increased capacities on its Baltic Sea service and added the port of Klaipeda to its network. This expansion follows the successful launch of Samskip's dedicated Baltic Sea shortsea service in November 2023.
The company will deploy two 803 teu container vessels on the trade route and include Klaipeda in the fixed-day weekly sailing schedule connecting the UK, the Netherlands, Finland, and the Baltic States. Additionally, Samskip will relocate its UK port of call from Hull to Immingham to improve schedule integrity and connectivity with its truck fleet for "last mile" deliveries.
With this expansion, Samskip is also responding to customer demand for a shortsea service in Finland and the Baltic States. Lithuanian exporters can now benefit from fast transit times between Lithuania and the UK, with Samskip vessels departing from Klaipeda every Saturday morning and arriving in Immingham three days later on Tuesday morning.
