Rwandair boosts cargo capacity
Rwandair has taken delivery of its first dedicated freighter. Converted by KF Aerospace at Kelowna, Canada, the 15.6 year old B737-800 SF, which is painted in Rwandair’s first cargo livery, will be based at its Kigali hub, from where it will serve destinations in Africa and the Middle East, including Johannesburg, Nairobi, and the UAE.
Rwandair operates twelve aircraft with an average age of just under six years. The airline currently offers services to 28 destinations in 22 countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Plans to reach North America are fuelled by the announcement made by the Federal Aviation Administration last week that Rwanda has achieved an international aviation safety assessment category 1 rating. This allows Rwandan air carriers to serve USA and enter into code-share agreements with US carriers without limitation. (ah)
