Russian Railways: export cargo volumes on the rise
Export cargo volumes shipped by the Russian Railways (RZD) to sea ports were 3.6% higher in 2019 than in 2018 and amounted to 308.8 million t. About 131.1 million t of cargo were shipped to north-western ports last year (+3.4% above 2018), 76 million t to southern ports (+1%), and 101.7 million t to ports in the Far East (+5.8%), according to RZD.
The share of coal in export freight traffic was 50.2%, oil transports contributed 26.8%, ferrous metals 7.1% and fertilizers 6.8%. Export shipments of coal to sea terminals increased by 8.6% to 155 million t in 2019.
About 15 million t of solid fuel (+38.7%) was were delivered to southern ports, 54.2 million t (+4.7%) to north western ports and about 86 million t (+7.1%) to ports of the Far East. (ben)
