Russian forwarder continues to invest heavily in fleet

The Russian company Globaltruck acquired 501 euro 5 Volvo trucks and increased its average fleet size by 14.7% to 1,245 vehicles in 2018.

The new units, together with an average freight rate increase of 5.6%, enabled the firm to boost its revenue by 23.5% and net profit by 54.2%. Nevertheless, the forwarder said that 2018 was quite difficult because of rising fuel prices. The FTL trucking firm was able to mitigate that factor by stepping up its trucks’ average monthly mileage by 2.4% to 15,900 km and reducing the cost of fleet maintenance.

This year, Globaltruck plans to upgrade its fleet even further by purchasing between 100 and 150 new trucks. (ben)
