Rotterdam port launches quantum internet trial
A consortium led by Quantum Delta NL and including the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Qbird, and other players, has created the world's first scalable quantum internet connection in Rotterdam port.
A trial that stated in late 2022 demonstrated that quantum technology can secure sensitive information and strengthen the safety of seagoing vessels and economic traffic against quantum computer threats. This system ensures secure connections that are easily and cost-effectively expandable.
If a hacker tries to steal the keys, users are alerted, and new keys are generated for continued secure communication. As quantum computers advance, traditional encryption methods are at risk, making enhanced cyber resilience crucial for protecting critical infrastructure like the Port Authority. (pb)
