Road transport on the uptick in Europe
Europe’s road haulage traffic caught up significantly from July till September in this special year of 2020. The freight offers for Q3, as recorded by Timocom’s transport barometer, rose to offset the slow market caused by the coronavirus pandemic in Q2.
The figures exceeded those recorded over the same period in 2019. When calculating the freight entries from all 44 European countries covered by the barometer, there were 111% more freight offers than in the previous quarter (Q3 compared to Q2/2020).
This represents an increase of 17% as compared to the same quarter in 2019 (Q3/2020 compared to Q3/2019). September was the busiest month, with 10 million freight offers within a single month for the first time since the beginning of the corona crisis. (sh)
