Road network for new multimodal platform

The port of Dunkirk is creating a new multimodal platform named Dunkirk International Logistics South (DLI South). Covering a total area of 125 ha, this new platform for logistics companies and in particular the container industry will provide 400,000 sqm of warehouse space that is connected to multimodal transport infrastructure.

In addition to the platform, the French port will build a 2.8 km long road network for DLI South. The investment will amount to EUR 2.5 million.

To construct the roads, material from the neighbouring Arcelor Mittal steel plant will be used instead of material that has to be hauled a long way from its quarry. Around 35,000 t of blast furnace slag from the steelworks will be used. (mw)
