Road hauliers demand planning security
European legislators are currently debating a more ambitious aim for cutting greenhouse gas emissions: initially 40%, the legislators are now proposing a reduction target of 50%/55% or even 65% by 2030.
Road hauliers are prepared to make their contribution to the decarbonisation of the transport sector, road haulage associations from (NLA), France (FNTR) and Germany (BGL) said. However, they demand planning security, clear framework conditions, a definition of the energy source(s) available for road transport in the future as well as state incentives or programmes for the sector.
This is the only way to quickly reduce pollution and make Europe's transport industry more eco-friendly, the associations said. (ben)
