RMI works on fleet quality
The United States Coast Guard’s (USCG’s) has again awarded its Qualship 21 to the registry of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).
In 2001, the USCG implemented an initiative to identify high-quality ships and provide incentives to encourage quality operations.
RMI has now been recognised for 17 consecutive years. More than 1,100 RMI flagged vessels were enrolled in Qualship 21 in 2020, with an additional 78 having enrolled thus far in 2021. This means that approximately one third of the award-certified vessels are flying the RMI flag. (cd)
