R.J. Corman now operates inland port in Virginia
The US railroad company has won a contract to lease the Central Appalachia Inland Port at Prichard (CAIPP) in Wayne County, West Virginia. R.J. Colman took over all the ports operations on 16 October 2023.
The hub is a 260,000 sqm facility at the southern end of Prichard, WV, owned by the Wayne County Commission. It is designed to transfer shipping containers between railcars and trucks.
CAIPP is served by Norfolk Southern Railway’s (NS) Kenova District. In this multi-phase project, the R. J. Corman Switching Company will use a portion of the site as a car repair hub.
The company has formed partnerships with railroads, car owners, and clients to operate mechanical car repair services at twelve other sites nationwide. (ben)
