Risks for container terminals underestimated
The UK-headquartered TT Club recently published an analysis of the risks faced by container terminals. The group provides insurance to port authorities, terminals and stevedores on a global scale. This particular analysis focuses on the top ten risks in container terminals, based on experience over the period 2014 to 2018.
The study says that these top ten risks account for 78% of the costs for container terminal insurance claims, covering both assets and liabilities. Details can be found in the graphic attached. TT Club draws a clear conclusion: "It is a sobering thought that many incidents are preventable with better training, systems and procedures and/or technologies." (cd)
