Rina and ABB – new concepts for green power
The Genoa-based international classification society Rina has inked a memorandum of understanding with ABB. The aim of the project is to develop new concepts to reduce the emissions of various types of vessels.
The collaboration will comprise the development of commercially viable solutions, including fuel cell systems with carbon capture, to accelerate the decarbonisation of the shipping industry. The partners will further focus on promoting the use of hydrogen, and the introduction of modern approaches to ship propulsion.
Other areas of cooperation will include hazard identification and operability (hazid/hazop) analyses, review of feasibility studies, cyber security certification, and support with ERP and digital solutions. (sh)
