Rijeka hits record mark
Despite the challenges arising from the global pandemic in 2020, the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal in Rijeka set a new record surpassing 300,000 teu handled.
Following 20% growth in 2019, AGCT grew a further 12% in 2020 year to date, driven especially by intermodal traffic, amongst others a 30% increase in rail volumes. By the commissioning of two RMGs and a new shunting tunnel, the terminal has significantly increased its rail capacity.
“With 70% of volumes now coming from outside the local Croatian market and from eastern and central Europe, AGCT will continue developing the port and intermodal offering," said Emmanuel Papagiannakis, CEO of AGCT. (cd)
