Rhenus invests in Central Asia

The logistics group has signed an agreement with the Uzbek Railway to establish a JV to realise a modern logistics centre in Andijan (Uzbekistan) and a declaration of intent with the Kazakh company "Aktau Sea Commercial Port" for the development of an intermodal terminal in the port of Aktau, Kazakhstan.

Rhenus is planning further strategic projects in the South Caucasus to complement these initiatives. Combined with a strong presence in Turkey, this will allow the creation of a seamless supply chain along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor between Europe and China via Central Asia, the company said. Rhenus has been active in Central Asia for almost 30 years. (ben)
