Rhenus completes Rhine-side hub
Rhenus is setting up its new Swiss logistics centre near the Rhine in Möhlin, Aargau, where it aims to implement an automated storage solution.
Using 30 P40 Geek+ robots and seven roboshuttles, the logistics provider is looking to handle goods at a 70% faster speed while running operations sustainably with green electricity, supplemented by a photovoltaic plant. The logistics centre will have a 2,000 sqm area for 30,000 storage places and a capacity to safely store hazardous or temperature-sensitive items.
After a construction period of 18 months, Rhenus plans to open this new future-proof hub close to Basel in January 2025. The company can then work to create more sustainable and more efficient transhipment services in the region. (mk)
