Rhenus acquires freight forwarding business in Düsseldorf
Effective 1 June 2020, Rhenus Freight will take over the freight forwarding operations of L.W. Cretschmar at this company's headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany. The takeover involves customer and business relations for this segment and the staff employed in the freight forwarding, customs and sales departments.
The family-owned company Cretschmar generated a turnover of EUR 103 million in 2018. It is part of the System Alliance, Night Star Express and Kombiverkehr cooperation networks.
With this acquisition the Rhenus Group plans to strengthen its position in the German Rhine-Rhone region. "We plan to pool the chemical expertise of both companies," said Thilo Streck, managing director of Rhenus Road in Germany. The acquisition is still subject to approval by the cartel authorities. (cd)
