Researching HGV data in Scotland
The national agency Transport Scotland, UK, is working with Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh to ascertain where en route electric charging and hydrogen refuelling will be required for zero-emission trucks in Scotland.
To better understand truck movements, the team requests any data on HGV journeys that start or end in Scotland, the UK Road Haulage Association (RHA) said. The information could be a year or two old, and there is a comprehensive data protection policy – all data will be aggregated, and no individual fleet’s journeys will be identifiable.
The result of the investigation will be a report and a map identifying the initial broad locations where electric charging and fuelling facilities will be needed in the country to enable a transition to green fuels. (ben)
