Reopening the Leatherman terminal boosts SC Ports
South Carolina Ports saw an 8% year-over-year increase in September 2024 volumes, handling 214,558 teu and 118,306 pier containers. This growth follows the reopening of the Leatherman terminal, which added 700,000 teu of capacity and a 427 m berth to the port of Charleston.
Since reopening, eight ships have docked, including a weekly first-in-Asia service from ZIM. SC Ports also reported a 5% increase in teu and pier containers for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025.
Inland Port Greer handled 15,133 rail moves in September, with a combined 6% increase in rail moves in the inland ports for the quarter. (pb)
