Regional hub moved from UK to Netherlands

Houston-based Crane Worldwide Logistics has invested in a warehouse near Amsterdam Schiphol airport (Netherlands). The facility comes on top of operational centres in Tilburg and Rotterdam, will provide additional space and is also a reaction to the implications of Brexit. Holland has now been chosen as the firm’s new regional contract logistics hub.

The complication of additional duties and taxes for many organisations that previously ran their European hubs in the UK has prompted them to look to the Netherlands as a natural centre for European operations. “There’s certainly been a notable shift in interest that is favourable for us here in the Netherlands,” commented Gulhan Isik, who was recently appointed managing director in the Netherlands.

The company is convinced that it has made the right choice. “Peak seasons are expected to start early this year; and we’ve already seen early signs of increased demand for airfreight, due to the troublesome scenario for ocean freight shipments," said Jason Stretton, the regional vice-president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Crane Worldwide Logistics.
