Re-made in France

Renault Trucks is expanding its range of used trucks with the launch of a new model rebuilt at its used-trucks factory in Bourg-en-Bresse. The Renault Trucks T X-64 Euro III unit is destined for the African and Middle Eastern markets.

Renault Trucks is launching a new model that comes from its used-trucks factory located in Bourg-en-Bresse, approximately 100 km north of its headquarters in Saint-Priest, near Lyon. The ‘new’ Renault Trucks T X-64 is a converted vehicle that is being aimed primarily at the brand’s customers running their business activities in Africa and the Middle East.

More than half of the parts are new

The Renault Trucks T X-64 is made up of more than 50% of original new parts, with the side members, suspensions and axles all being replaced and the driveline being rebuilt.

The vehicle is equipped with a new, 300 mm thick 6 x 4 heavy-duty chassis with a tri-axle silhouette, which allows it to transport a load weighing approximately 8 t on its front and 26 t on its rear axle.

The unit also features a robotised ‘Optidriver’ manual transmission with off-road mode, as well as a hand throttle, which has been designed to increase driving comfort and keep the vehicle under control in any situation.

The Renault Trucks T X-64 is based on a Renault Trucks T Euro VI unit, which has been upgraded to Euro III. This represents the highest level of emissions reduction applicable in Africa and the Middle East. During the conversion process, the operators start by removing and recycling the Euro VI components (silencers and AdBlue components) before installing the Euro III components. This rebuild undergoes external certification too, much like new engines, and is designed to guarantee the original power and torque.

Details for regional use

The air and diesel filters have also been especially strengthened, which better adapts the vehicle to its environment (topography and the characteristics of locally-distributed fuel). Finally, ground clearance has been increased, to protect the underbody in rough terrain. The software and the manufacturer’s manual have been updated so that the vehicle, with its new features, is recognised and maintained throughout Renault’s network.

The Renault Trucks T X-64 also enjoys a manufacturer’s warranty of 18 months or 180,000 km, covering all powertrain components and valid at all Renault Trucks sales and service outlets.

Already used, but still usable

As Renault Trucks points out, the conversions performed at its used-trucks factory in Bourg-en-Bresse are carried out on used trucks selected according to strict criteria and checked at more than 200 sensitive points. Each conversion operation is accompanied by a specific study carried out by the company’s development and quality engineers. In terms of the industrial manufacturing process and quality control, they meet the same level of requirements as those needed to produce a new vehicle.
