RCM and Instant launched by Hamburg Süd
Hamburg Süd, an affiliate of Maersk Line, has launched a tool for remote container management (RCM) technology for reefer container shipments. The carrier said that the RCM application monitors parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, and the concentrations of O2 and CO2 within the reefer container in real time.
As a special feature, the data of the cargo probes for cold treatment cargo are available online. The whole reefer container fleet of Hamburg Süd and Maersk has been outfitted with the necessary technology. Recently, Hamburg Süd launched its application “Instant” to manage booking cargo online. With this tool, users can view fixed prices and book their cargo directly.
Bookings can be made up to four weeks prior to the planned shipment. “With Instant, booking a container will be just as easy and fast as booking a flight online – you only need a few clicks,” says Frank Smet, chief commercial officer (CCO) of Hamburg Süd. “With it, we are creating a smart digital complement to the personal customer service that Hamburg Süd customers are used to.” (fd)
