Railways to transport more grain from Ukraine
In addition to aid deliveries to Ukraine, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has also been transporting grain from Ukraine with all available resources since the beginning of the war.
From March to May 2022 alone, RCG transported over 130,000 t of grain from Ukraine to Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Each freight train carried 1,300 to 1,600 t.
Now RCG is further increasing its grain transports: In July, transports to Austria will be doubled step by step to about 2,600 t and those to Hungary will be increased by up to 66% to about 6,500 - 9,100 t. Grain transports to Germany will remain unchanged at around 36,000 t per month.
