Railway wins climate leadership award
The centre for climate and energy solutions and the climate registry have awarded the climate leadership prize 2021 to railway operator CSX in recognition of the company’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The US class I railways earned the prestigious award in the category for GHG reduction goal setting, which has established the company as a sustainability frontrunner not only among transportation companies, but in American industry as a whole.
CSX has consistently set and exceeded ambitious GHG reduction goals through the implementation of locomotive fuel conservation technologies and the execution of efficient operating principals, which has made it one the nation’s most fuel-efficient Class I railroads. (ben)
