Rail/sea transport service to China launched
Trans Container has started to transport export cargoes to China via the First Container Terminal in the Russian port of Saint Petersburg. It is planned to organise shipments twice a month.
The sea leg of the journey is arranged by the Chinese company Torgmoll. The service is intended for exporters from Russia’s North-West.
The initial points on the route will be the stations of Archangel, Nebolchi and Shushary, with are locations to be added at a later date.
The cargoes transported by block-trains are consolidated at the FCT in the Port of Saint Petersburg, from where they are shipped to China (Qingdao, Shanghai, Guangzhou ports). As part of the service, Trans Container provides its own flatcars and manages railway shipments within Russia. (ben)
