Railrunner Europe slides into the doldrums
Railrunner Europe, a subsidiary of the US-based company Railrunner, is in financial difficulties. The bankruptcy court of Hamburg has already appointed a preliminary insolvency administrator.
The intermodal operator said its financial melt-down was caused by infrastructure problems such as costly latencies when loading/unloading trailers at plants and warehouses, as well as demands for extremely long payment periods from customers.
Railrunner has been offering intermodal transport services in Europe since 2015. The Hamburg-based enterprise offers, inter alia, a blocktrain connection between the inland ports of Braunschweig (Germany) and Bratislava (Slovakia).
RailRunner Europe’s management said it intends to reorganise and restructure the company. (ben)
