“Rail.Hub” wins German Logistics Award 2024

This year’s German Logistics Award goes to Denkinger Internationale Spedition for its “Rail.Hub” project. The medium-sized transport and logistics company impressed the jury with a mix of ideas and innovations and their rapid and consistent implementation.

Denkinger has rethought heavy goods logistics to increase efficiency and shift as much steel as possible to rail. The newly created “Rail.Hub” consists of two transhipment halls along a 2 km long track system, into which freight trains can enter directly and be unloaded using special equipment such as heavy-duty cranes, forklifts, LH60 transhipment machines and reach stackers.

In addition to the construction of the modern wooden hall, the integration of translucent photovoltaic modules and the use of e-trucks, the company designed a sustainable overall concept, which is optimised by digital projects developed in-house. (cj)
