Railfreight braves corona crisis
Lokomotion, the train operator for transalpine railfreight services through Austria, reports that it has implemented comprehensive measures to guarantee that international transport links remain open. In close cooperation with the service companies, Lokomotion has agreed concepts for a regular cleaning of the locomotives.
Besides disinfection measures, Lokomotion has launched comprehensive additional initiatives aimed at maintaining railfreight traffic across the Brenner Pass and the Tauern axis. Currently, the trains run to and from Italy without any serious restrictions.
«To make sure that this remains so, special regulations for locomotive drivers and financial aid to relieve liquidity shortages are required,” Lokomotion says. (ben)
