Rail service from London to East Midlands launched
Maritime Transport has strengthened its intermodal capacity with the introduction of a new rail service operating between DP World London Gateway (LGP) and its terminal at East Midlands Gateway (EMG). It is Maritime’s tenth rail service to date and runs five days a week from Monday to Friday with a weekly capacity of up to 320 containers.
Three existing services already run daily from EMG, including two to the Port of Felixstowe hauled by DB Cargo UK and Freightliner, and one to the Port of Southampton hauled by GB Railfreight.
The good news comes just weeks after Maritime announced its acquisition of Wincanton Container Logistics, which results in a road fleet of total 2,000 Maritime vehicles and 37 transport and container depots across the UK. (ben)
