Racing to Kenya
Magma Aviation, a UK-based Chapman Freeborn company with a focus on air cargo services between Europe and Africa as well as North America, flew an array of rally vehicles and parts from Liege to Nairobi for the WRC Kenya Rally which took place at the end of June.
Uplifting this kind of cargo is a time-critical operation, as the cars must arrive in time to be track-tested before the race.
In total five cars and a variety of car parts and materials, weighing over 28 t combined, arrived at their destination in perfect condition thanks to a "smooth and meticulous loading process", witnessed by Jose Antunes, managing director of the Dutch freight forwarder Impeco, who has managed international logistics for the WRC rally for several years and also accompanied the shipment on the B747F.
