Quiet electro sound at loud street parade
In the midst of the loudly booming techno music at the "Zurich Street Parade" in Switzerland on 10 August 2024, one electro sound remained conspicuously quiet for once, as a fully electric Renault truck pulled the “love mobile” of the online party portal Izoo along the procession.
The 40 t tractor unit was equipped with a battery pack of around 540 kWh which normally provides a range of up to 380 km. However, many doubted that this would be sufficient for use in the parade, since it was not clear how the constant stop and go traffic on the 1.8 km route would affect the vehicle’s batteries.
The truck passed the “field trial” with flying colours, using exactly 5% of the electricity during the four-hour parade. (ben)
