Quicker handling of goods trains
The European wagon hire company VTG will be using the PJ Monitoring's (PJM) automatic brake testing system for handling goods trains in future. The new system will bring enormous efficiency gains, VTG says. For a 500 m long goods train, manual checks of the brakes take around 40 minutes and two employees.
An automatic brake test, on the other hand, can be carried out by just one person in less than 5 minutes. The automatic brake test is an important innovation for the preparation of goods trains, as it is mandatory to check the brakes as soon as wagons are detached, or the train remains stationary for more than 24 hours.
