Quehenberger opts for HVO

The Austrian haulage company wants to replace diesel with the eco-friendly biogenic fuel in as many of its vehicles as possible. It has therefore secured an annual supply of 3 million litres of HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oils) for 2024.

The fuel is produced from vegetable waste and animal fats. It can be used directly as a diesel substitute in existing vehicles without conversion. Quehenberger says that the secured annual supply of HVO will save over 8,000 t of CO2.

The company's goal is to become climate-neutral by 2040. To achieve this, total CO2 emissions are to be reduced by 32%  annually and particulate emissions by 33%.  (ben)
