Queensland's first heavy-duty BEVs

The government in Queensland, Australia, has decided to give electric heavy vehicles with up to 8 t on the steer axle and 18.5 t on the drive axles access to a defined zero-emissions heavy vehicle road network. Queenland's first first heavy BEVs will operated by the forwarder Followmont.

The company recently received a Volvo FH Electric, the first vehicle of its type to be sold in Australia. The BEVs will run between Followmont’s Eagle Farm depot in Brisbane, servicing major accounts around Brisbane and running overnight linehaul trips to the company’s Toowoomba and Sunshine Coast depots. The 540 KwH, 666 hp FH Electric prime mover is currently rated to 44 t and has a range of up to 300 km. (ben)
