QCS to open new branches in Eastern Europe
Bucking the trend, the freight forwarder Quick Cargo Service (QCS) is opening up to Eastern Europe. The first of several new branches will come on stream in Bucharest on 15 April. The new office will be headed by Alina Moldovan. Other branches are to follow.
"Bucharest and Cluj in Romania are at the top of our list, (...) followed by Bratislava in Slovakia, Budapest in Hungary and Warsaw in Poland," reports QCS managing director Stephan Haltmayer.
In addition to its own twelve offices in Germany, the company is also active in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Basel, Zurich, Copenhagen and Szczecin. Lubos Lukac, newly appointed as central business development manager, will have general responsibility for the start-ups.
Hungary pays a core role for QCS. "We want to develop Budapest into our hub for air freight on the routes between East Asia and Eastern Europe. We will feed cargo shipments from neighbouring countries into Budapest to consolidate them with locally generated volumes and transport them by air," Haltmayer explains. (sh)
