Qatar Airways transports millions of roses for Valentine’s Day
Qatar Airways Cargo delivered 2,800 t of fresh-cut roses from Kenya and South America to markets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia for Valentine’s Day.
According to the airline this corresponds to around 48 million freshly-cut roses. The carrier operated nine Boeing B777 freighter charters from Nairobi and ten from Quito, alongside its scheduled cargo flights, to meet demand.
“We increased capacity by adding extra charter freighters, as a part of our commitment to contribute to socio-economic development” said chief officer cargo Mark Drusch, adding that “February is a crucial month and important economic opportunity for the floriculture industry.” (js)
