Qantas launches Cairns - Hong Kong cargo connection
Commencing in mid-November as a six-month trial, Qantas Freight will include Cairns on its existing Sydney - Hong Kong B767F service, in partnership with the Queensland Government, Cairns airport, where the cargo division of Australia's national carrier operates a freight terminal with links to 13 domestic destinations, and the Cairns Regional Council.
The direct service will provide same-day delivery to Hong Kong, helping support exporters in Far North Queensland, particularly for their deliveries of fresh seafood and agricultural products from the Cairns region to key Asian and international markets.
Chief customer officer Nick McGlynn: "The new flight provides over 25 t of freight space and will offer Cairns a direct, nonstop service to Hong Kong with connectivity across north Asia." (ah)
