PTP optimises terminal truck operations

The port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malaysia’s largest transhipment hub, has set new productivity records, following the implementation of the ‘Terminal Truck Optimization’ system (TTO) from Kaleris.

The system has improved truck scheduling, reducing cycle times by 13% and increasing efficiency. During a single twelve-hour shift, PTP achieved 14,914 quayside moves, including 1,420 moves in one hour.

“Investing in world-class technology is key to enhancing our service,” said Mark Hardiman, CEO of PTP. “The deployment of TTO has already shown measurable improvements, including lower fuel consumption and greater efficiency.”

Kaleris’ TTO system optimises truck movements using real-time GPS data, reducing quay crane waiting times by 20% and fuel consumption by 7%. PTP, ranked as the fifth most efficient container port globally, continues to enhance its operations through advanced digital solutions. (ah)
