Preparing the fair after the fair – on the day before TL in Munich
On 8 May, the day before the long-awaited opening of the 2023 edition of the Transport Logistic trade fair in Munich, Messe München gave a presentation outlining how and why it will be hosting ‘Transport Logistic and Air Cargo Southeast Asia’ in Singapore in November, its first multimodal logistics trade fair. The event will run from 1–3 November 2023 and intends to be “the most influential meeting place for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management in Southeast Asia.”
The ITJ attended for you and heard representatives from the Southeast Asian city-state outline why it has taken the top spot in the World Bank’s recent Logistics Performance Index (LPI), which naturally also recommends it as a suitable venue for Messe München’s latest logistics offshoot.
In a concluding panel discussion Jaisey Yip, the vice-president of the Changi Airport Group’s cargo business division, referred to the airport’s forthcoming investments and concrete sustainability goals, with the ‘Changi East Industrial Zone’ aiming to double its annual cargo capacity to 5.4 million t.
The efforts of Markus Heinelt, the cargo director of Munich airport, which is linked to Singapore airport through a ‘sister agreement’, focus on acquiring more airlines from Southeast Asia. He also hopes to be able to fly more regional airfreight via Munich, as 60% thereof is currently handled by RFS options. (ah)
