PPG joins zero harm innovation programme
PPG has partnered with Rightship's zero harm innovation partners programme to promote maritime sustainability. PPG's biocide-free silicone fouling release coating, PPG Sigmaglide 2390, is the only hull coating approved by Rightship’s product review process, highlighting its sustainability impact.
The coating, featuring PPG Hydroreset technology, provides a nearly friction-free surface, prevents marine organisms from adhering and thus increases fouling control. It helps vessels achieve up to 20% power savings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 35% compared to traditional antifouling measures.
The partnership aims to connect manufacturers with shipowners, educate charterers on sustainable technologies, and promote investment in safety and environmental stewardship in the maritime industry. (pb)
