Positive forecast boosts intermodal traffic
Hegelmann is shifting more of its road transports in Europe to the railways. By working with partners specialising in intermodal transport, Hegelmann is able to use standard trailers.
With this new approach, Hegelmann intends to reduce its ecological footprint and also take pressure off the road networks. The freight forwarder is expecting a substantial increase in transport volumes next year.
The newly introduced regulation prohibiting truck drivers from spending their weekly resting hours in their cabs was another reason for Hegelmann to rely more on the railways.
The family-owned company specialises in Europe-wide time-critical deliveries for the automotive, heavy goods and food industry. (ben)
