Ports and partnerships in Pakistan

The Pakistani government is working with AD Ports Group in a series of MOUs regarding air, sea and rail transport as well as logistics and digitalisation. The parties signed four agreements to this effect on 8 November in Islamabad, attended by PM Shehbaz Sharif as well as authorities from the UAE and officials from the AD Ports Group.

These ventures will focus on collaborating in multimodal transport solutions including shipping and sea freight, potentially expanding AD Ports’ foothold in Pakistan. Another aim of the partnership will be to develop digital customs solutions and facilitated transport services in the country’s major airports.

AD Ports and the government of Pakistan have already signed two concession agreements, lasting 50 and 25 years respectively, in which the group agreed to make investments amounting to USD 400 million for infrastructure development at Karachi port. (mk)
