Port Synergy - growth in 2018, upgrade in Le Havre

The France-based Port Synergy Group processed just over 2.3 million teu in 2018, 9% more than in 2017. The group’s share of the container market in France amounts to about 50%. The boxes are handled by its two main subsidiaries - GMP and Euro Fos. The two container terminals are located in the ports of Le Havre and Fos-sur-Mer, respectively.

On another front, four of the ten STS gantry cranes are being heightened by 9 m at GMP’s Port 2000 in Le Havre. The project was entrusted to Kalmar. The port says the work, which takes ten weeks per crane, is being done to prepare for the next generation of ULCVs in 2020.

The port terminal recently hosted the official inauguration ceremony for the “CMA CGM Antoine de Saint-Exupéry”. The vessel is 400 m long, 59 m wide and can carry 20,600 teu. (kd)
