Port of Long Beach records busiest July ever
The port of Long Beach experienced its busiest July on record, with a 52.6% increase in cargo volumes compared to the same month last year.
The port handled 882,376 teu, driven by a surge in back-to-school shipments and anticipation of potential tariff hikes. Imports rose by 60.5%, exports by 16.3%, and empty containers by 57.8%.
This makes July the third-busiest month in the port's history. The port moved over 5.1 million teu in the first seven months of 2024, up 20% from last year. (pb)
