Port of Gothenburg welcomes methanol-powered ship
“Antonia Maersk”, the world's largest methanol-powered containership, is now in regular service between the port of Gothenburg and Asia. With a capacity of 16,592 teu, the vessel represents a significant step in the green transition of the shipping industry, offering substantial carbon dioxide savings.
Powered by bio-methanol, it reduces daily CO2 emissions by 280 t, equivalent to a truck driving around the world more than six times. The port of Gothenburg aims to become Scandinavia’s largest hub for renewable energy, supporting sustainable shipping practices. (pb)
