Port of Gothenburg: 15th quarter of growth
The port of Gothenburg has experienced growth for the 15th consecutive quarter, with container volumes increasing by 5% to 467,000 teu in H1/2024. Rail transport also rose by 6%, attributed to new destinations and growing volumes at existing ones.
Ro-ro units and vehicle handling however saw declines of 4% and 3%, respectively, due to economic uncertainties. Throughput of energy products was up 13%, reaching 11 million t, and dry bulk volumes climbed by 31%, driven by exports of forest products and materials for infrastructure projects. (pb)
